DEBRA səfiri, İsla Qrist, BBC səhər yeməyində Barnaby Webberin ailəsi tərəfindən ziyarət edildi
In case you missed our DEBRA Ambassador, Isla Grist, on BBC Breakfast this morning (16 Jan), you can watch the segment below.
The piece showed Emma and David Webber, the parents of Barnaby Webber, a teenager tragically killed in the Nottingham stabbings, visiting Isla at her home in the Scottish Highlands to see her new wheelchair, part-funded by The Barnaby Webber Foundation and DEBRA.
Isla was chosen by the Webber family as Emma had previously seen Isla and DEBRA Vice-President Graeme Souness CBE on BBC Breakfast and was inspired by the strength Isla showed living with EB.
Unlike Isla’s old wheelchair, this new chair can broken down into smaller parts and easily transported, which will help to give Isla more independence.
“Isla’s new chair is going to give her independence. She’s been really dependent on me, and our wheelchair accessible vehicle to get around. Now she can go with anyone she wants to, her carers, her sister, if her friend wants to take her to the cinema. She can go where she wants to, when she wants to.” – Rachael, Isla’s mum
A big thank you to The Barnaby Webber Foundation for generously part-funding this wheelchair for Isla, and BBC Breakfast for continuing to help raise awareness of EB. To Isla, thank you for being an amazing ambassador for the EB community, we wish you many happy adventures in your new chair.
